Google has just officially launched a new tool called Google Insights For Search. This tool is much like the previous successful Google Trends but has more features & functionalities. A report by Jupiter Research states that about a quarter of the planet will be connected to the internet within the next four years. A total growth of about 44 percent of the number of online users is predicted and it is seen that Asia is considered as an especially critical market, while the highest growth rates is seen in areas such as China, Russia, India & Brazil.
As currently reported by InternetWorldStats, Asia is already in the position as the largest internet users according to the latest Internet Usage & World Population Statistics as for May 2008.
Google has just made a change to its Keyword Research Tool to show the corresponding search volume for each keyword, meaning that Google now shows numbers instead of the usual shaded bars. This development by Google should receive a very warm welcome as it would help many keyword researchers in their tasks significantly.
This can also be considered as a replacement for the Overture (Yahoo) keyword tool which is by now already unavailable. Just make sure that you pay attention to the proper keyword match types for the given numbers.
A post in the Google Blog describes “Now, when you use the Keyword Tool to search for relevant keywords to include in your keyword list, you’ll be able to see the approximate number of search queries matching your keywords that were performed on Google and the search network.”
A proof-of-concept demonstration of a project to use automated facial expression recognition to make robots more effective teachers has made a computer science Ph.D student’s face function as a remote control. In this experiment, his facial expression is being detected to control the speed of video playback.
In a recent pilot study, it is demonstrated that facial expressions that people make while watching video lectures can be used to predict a person’s preferred viewing speed of the video.
